Terms of use

Using StackMaps
You may install and use StackMaps for any purpose, including commercial work, on as many machines as you like. You may not redistribute it, resell it, or build a derivative product from it. The full software licence ships with the extension.
Your content is yours
Your projects, tasks and notes belong to you. We claim no ownership over anything you create with StackMaps, and we do not use your content to train anything or to build any other product.
Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, keep your sign-in secure โ anyone with access to it can read and change your projects. Tell us if you believe it has been compromised.
We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or others using it. Otherwise we will not touch your account or your data.
Beta expectations
Being honest about what "beta" means here:
- Features may change, or be removed, based on what beta users find useful.
- There is no uptime guarantee. Sync may be unavailable at times.
- Data loss is unlikely but not impossible. StackMaps keeps your work on your own machine and lets you export to JSON or Markdown at any time. Please keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
- Paid plans are planned. If they arrive, the features you rely on today will not be taken away without notice, and you will not be charged for anything without agreeing to it first.
AI features
AI features use your own API key and talk directly to the provider you choose. You are responsible for that provider's costs and bound by their terms. AI output is generated text โ it can be wrong, and it is a suggestion, not advice.
No warranty
StackMaps is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from its use, including loss of data.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as StackMaps develops. Material changes will be described in the changelog rather than made quietly.
